A Spirited One-hour Online Event
Celebrating the Power of Images and the Art of Storytelling through the lens of women photographers.

Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles (PAC LA) presents A Picture A Minute 2026, a dynamic, live online event celebrating the power of images and the art of storytelling through the lens of women photographers. A Picture a Minute returns for its fourth edition on Friday, January 9th, 2026, from 4:00-5:00pm on Zoom (register via Eventbrite) to spotlight impactful photographic images and bring fresh insights into how we see, and how photos affect us. Inspired by Agnès Varda’s revelatory 1980s television production Une minute pour une image (One minute for one image), PAC LA has invited a diverse ensemble of artists, collectors, gallerists, curators and culture makers to share their insights and impressions of a single favorite image in just sixty seconds.

This year’s event is produced and hosted by independent curator and advisor, Hannah Sloan - promising a spirited and inclusive roster of presenters chosen for their distinct voices and perspectives. A continuation of PAC LA’s highly successful Year of the Woman, A Picture a Minute 2026 will foreground the contributions of women photographers by exclusively featuring images by women and female-identifying artists.
A Picture A Minute is a creative exercise and engaging shared experience that takes on a life of its own. Interested attendees should register in advance, for free, through Eventbrite

The public is invited to share this one-hour experience—online and in-real-time. Once the presentation begins, each panelist has sixty seconds to convey the essence of their chosen image, inviting PAC LA’s online community to experience a wide array of subjects and emotions through the lens of photography – from provocative to aspirational; from humorous to heartbreaking. There is no discussion or Q&A in-between each presentation; just a dynamic flow of images, presented in split screen format, with the corresponding presenter sharing their insights and perspectives. The recorded experience will be uploaded to PAC LA’s YouTube channel.
