Humans presents etchings and other prints by Los Angeles artist Dan McCleary, spanning his entire career as a printmaker—from his early exploration of intaglio at Magnolia Editions in Oakland, California in the 1990s, to his ongoing collaborations with the renowned Taller Sangfer in Oaxaca, Mexico. Focusing exclusively on the human form, the exhibition examines McCleary’s sensitive and nuanced use of line, texture, and gesture across various printmaking techniques to reveal the inner depth of his subjects. The presentation also situates his print practice within a broader art historical lineage, drawing connections to graphic influences in the work of such artists as Picasso, Goya, and Morandi.
