Photographic Arts Council presents Arlene Mejorado in conversation with Hannah Sloan. PAC LA's Year of the Woman programming continues with this online conversation with Arlene Mejorado, a lens-based artist from Los Angeles who says of her practice, "My photographic images consider the relationship between memory, landscape, and placemaking. I contemplate how our inner lives extend into the urban and suburban exterior and how land is a deposit and holder of personal and collective sentiment." Inside her haunting and often elusive images, personal archives are being mined and reorganized around new stories, and images are encouraged to take up physical, almost sculptural space in the world— reminding viewers that generational history happens both in the picture and in the body.
