there is little left at all

there is little left at all, opening reception and artist talks, Saturday, February 14, 2-5pm at Hannah Sloan Curatorial & Advisory. With a sort of minimalist maximalism, there is little left at all brings together six artists working across drawing, sculpture, assemblage, and devotional object-making in a group exhibition organized around ritual and reverence as operational studio practices. Materials—especially the unconventional—show the marks of repeated handling: dried grass spreads across the entry as a porous boundary between exterior ground and interior space, small wall-mounted figures and constructions offer viscerality at intimate scale, and a low sand bed organizes fragments into a provisional site of ceremony. The installation resists polish or spectacle, favoring fragility, restraint, and the exposed evidence of making in its gentle pageantry of ceramic, textile, pigment, and the found. On view in Mid-City through March 28; hannahsloan.com. —SND
