HSC&A / IG LIVE
Jacqueline Valenzuela
Friday, October 17 | 9 AM PT / 10 AM MT
Hosted by Hannah Sloan on Instagram.
We’re excited to invite you to a special Instagram Live session with artist Jacqueline Valenzuela, hosted by Hannah Sloan, where we'll take a deep dive into her truly one-of-a-kind studio space in the City of Industry, Los Angeles.
Jacqueline Valenzuela's studio, The Kolor Studio, is a unique hybrid; it's both her artist workspace and an active automotive body shop. Sharing the space with her partner, a kustom car painter, creates a rare, authentic site where fine art and lowrider culture coexist under one roof. This environment and its materials directly shape her interdisciplinary practice.
In this live session, we'll tour the studio, seeing how this Southern California location fuels her work. You'll get a glimpse of her ongoing series of altars that blend Mexican Catholic traditions with lowrider aesthetics, and new experimental paintings rooted in Chicano Futurism and rasquachismo.
Her work merges fine art traditions with kustom automotive techniques. Using bold colors and assemblage, she highlights femininity and overlooked narratives within the lowrider world.
“Ultimately, my work reflects the deep roots I have planted in the lowrider community while pushing toward new narratives of Chicano futurism, resilience, and belonging. Each piece is an act of devotion — to culture, to memory, and to the possibility of transformation.”
