HSC&A / Online Artist Talk: Arlene Mejorado

HSC&A / Online Artist Talk: Arlene Mejorado

Presented by: Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles

Friday, May 30 at 3pm PT / 6pm ET

Join Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles & Hannah Sloan Curatorial & Advisory for a special online conversation with Arlene Mejorado, a lens-based artist whose work spans analog photography, video, film, archives, and zines to examine memory, migration, and place.

/ About

Mejorado will discuss three deeply interconnected bodies of work—scenes of an inner life, Breathing Exteriors, and Desterrando Archivos—that explore how inner life, collective memory, and diasporic identity are imprinted onto physical landscapes.

"My photographic images consider the relationship between memory, landscape, and placemaking. Through a lens-based practice, I contemplate how our inner lives extend into the urban and suburban exterior and how land is a deposit and holder of personal and collective sentiment."

Following the presentation, Hannah Sloan will moderate an open Q&A, offering insight into Mejorado’s process and the role of storytelling, archives, and land as keepers of emotional and cultural knowledge.
