Event: Friday, January 9, 2026 at 4:00 PM PST on Zoom

Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles (PAC LA) presents the third edition of A Picture A Minute, a one-hour, live Zoom presentation taking place on Friday, January 9, 2026, 4:00–5:00pm PST.

This year’s edition—produced and hosted by curator and advisor Hannah Sloan—carries on in the tradition of previous performances—guests are invited to share a favorite photograph with just one minute to answer the question, “Why this image?” Inspired by French filmmaker and artist Agnès Varda’s 1980s television project Une minute pour une imageA Picture A Minute (APAM) invites a diverse ensemble of artists, collectors, curators, and gallerists to share a single photograph.

The format is simple: no Q&A, no interruptions—just a fluid sequence of images, ideas, and voices reflecting on the power of photography. With a lineup representing a wide range of perspectives, Sloan has secured 40 participants to date, including Allie Haeusslein (Former Director, Pier 24), Kelli Connell (artist), David Mahoney (collector), Kara Felt (Curator of Photographic Arts, San Diego Museum of Art), Leah Ollman (art critic; author of Ensnaring the Moment: On the Intersection of Poetry and Photography), Catherine Couturier (gallerist), and Erika Hirugami (Founder and CEO, CuratorLove).
